Dog Grooming

Nisa Callahan is our wonderful, experienced dog groomer. She has been grooming dogs for most of her life, and also attended the Animal Science Program at UCONN for 2 years and worked as a veterinary technician for 6 years in Manchester. Nisa owned a grooming salon, K-9 Salon Grooming Parlor, in Meriden for 29 years. When she decided to close that salon, we were fortunate to have her come to Yalesville.

From Poodles to Pugs, Schnauzers to Schnoodles, Nisa grooms them all. Whether your dog needs a simple bath and a nail trim or a complete makeover, Nisa is able to bring out the inner diva in everyone's dogs.

Nisa is also very attentive to the needs of her clients. If you are looking for a puppy cut or a show groom just let her know! She takes your concerns and needs in mind with each grooming she does.

End-of-Life Care

We understand how much your pet means to you and how hard it is to say goodbye when they reach the end of their life. Our team at Yalesville Veterinary Hospital is here to provide advice, support, and guidance to ensure a comfortable, serene passing for your companion at our facility, or in the comfort of your own home.

Whether your pet is aging, acutely ill, injured or has a chronic disease, making end-of-life decisions for them requires careful consideration. We will answer all your questions with honesty and compassion, and help you develop a plan that meets your pet’s needs and those of your family. At Yalesville Veterinary Hospital, we focus on comfort and quality of life for every patient at every age.

Euthanasia

Euthanasia is never an easy decision, and our compassionate team of doctors is here to help you determine when that time has come. We can review the process with you, so you are fully aware of what to expect. We understand that not everyone is comfortable being present when their pet is euthanized. The choice is one only you can make but, if at all possible, we recommend at least one family member be present, so your pet is more at ease.

You will also want to consider options for your pet’s remains. For most pet owners cremation service, either communal or private, is the most elected option and a staff member will be able to review your choices with you.

The grieving process is different for everyone and there is no right or wrong. There are resources for you to connect with should you feel the need for additional support.

PennHIP Screening

PennHIP screening can determine a dog’s risk for developing osteoarthritis and hip dysplasia later in life. This allows for timely medical intervention to lessen or prevent severe hip dysplasia.
